There was uproar in the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly today Senate passed 46 bills into law in less than ten minutes. The passage of the bills,which was presided over by the Senate President, David Mark, was done by voice vote immediatly they were presented by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Rules and Business, Senator Ita Enang.
Before the bills were passed, the Senate had suspended Order 79 (1) of the Senate Standing Orders and assumed that all the Bills have passed first, second and third readings on the floor of the Senate.
However, some senators were apparently not happy with the passage of the bills and were in the process of causing kaos in the House. The Senate President,therefore, advised them to present their names and signatures for consideration tomorrow, being the next legislative day.
In another development, the Senate gave immediate approval of President Muhammadu Buhari’s request to appoint 15 advisers. The request was the President's first correspondence to the National Assembly since is assumption of office last week and it was read on the floor of the Senate yesterday.
