| Carlo Ancelotti |
The Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani had said last week that the Rossoneri had reached out to the 55-year-old Italian about a return to the San Siro after his Madrid spell. However, Ancelotti, apparently in response to the offer, wrote on his Twitter handle that he rather needs some rest.
Ancelotti, who is planning to have a back surgery done in Canada this summer, said he would take a year off coaching. He is obviously one of the most successful coaches in Milan’s history, having led them to the Serie A title in 2004 and two Champions League crowns before he left in 2009 to join Chelsea after eight years in the job.
He also led Real Madrid to a 10th European Cup title in June 2014 but failed to win the league in his two seasons in Madrid. However, he was held in highest regards by the team he left behind as well as the new manager, Rafael BenÃtez who took over the management of the team yesterday.
Milan is currently placed 10th in Serie A under Filippo Inzaghi whose contracts runs to June 2016.
